Transmashholding handed over air-conditioned passenger cars to Egypt

Transmashholding delivered to Egypt the first third class passenger cars with air conditioning systems, according to the company's website.

Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah As-Sisi, members of the country's government and Transmashholding CEO Kirill Lipa took part in the handover ceremony. Now 14 cars of the above model have been delivered to Egypt. On the whole, under the contract the Russian company will supply 500 cars to the National Railways of Egypt.

"The handover to the customer of the arrived cars marks the beginning of the second stage of deliveries, which includes 800 air-conditioned cars, including 500 third-class cars, 180 second-class cars, and ninety first-class cars, which are assembled at the plant in Dunakesi (Hungary)," the report says.

Besides 30 dining cars produced at Tver Carriage Works in Russia will be sent to Egypt.

The contract for the supply of 1,300 passenger railcars worth one billion euros was signed in autumn 2018 and came into force in May last year.
