Russian Export Center opened the Made in Russia pavilion at the exhibition in Shanghai

The Russian Export Center (REC) on Tuesday inaugurated the Made in Russia booth at SIAL CHINA 2021 in Shanghai, showcasing 18 domestic food sector producers.

"Despite the closed borders with China, the Made in Russia pavilion has successfully opened the gates of Middle Kingdom imports, confidently entering the top five largest national offline expositions of SIAL China 2021: Russia is represented by 18 Russian food exporters on a total area of over 400 square meters. The participation was made possible thanks to a unique hybrid format: offline presence of products at the exhibition with control of their participation by exhibitors from the Russian Federation via video and audio media," the REC said.

The People's Republic of China remains Russia's most promising partner for food exports, so the government actively supports Russian companies seeking to enter the international market, said Veronika Nikishina, Director General of REC.

"The intensity of business contacts between the countries has increased several times in the last 5 years alone. China is the largest buyer of Russian food products: the republic is systematically increasing imports of agro-industrial products from Russia, in 2020, food supplies from Russia increased by 24%, amounting to about $4 billion," Nikishina said.

According to her, exports of soybeans, vegetable oil, seafood and rapeseed have especially increased. In addition, confectionery and chocolate are still in great demand among Chinese consumers. Supply of meat products doubled as well.
