In March 2020 the energy services company Lighting Technologies ESCO (a subsidiary of Russia's largest manufacturer of professional lighting equipment, IG Lighting Technologies) implemented the first energy service contract in the field of road maintenance in the Ivanovo region without using budgetary funds.

"The energy service contract is a way to solve lighting problems without costs in a short period of time. Prior to this project, our company replaced street lighting and interior lighting of socially important facilities - schools, sports palaces, palaces of culture in Russian cities. The project in Ivanovo region has shown that the energy service mechanism in the area of regional road lighting is also worthwhile. This means that we will replicate this experience and make not only Russian cities light, but also the roads between them," commented Alexey Anikin, Director General of Lighting Technologies ESCO.

He specified that modernization work on the road lighting was carried out on the bridge across the Volga in Kineshma, on the roads to the Ivanovo airport, on the road Ivanovo - Kokhma, as well as in the settlements of Bogorodskoye, Novo-Talitsy, Bunkovo in Ivanovo district, in Kitov and Afanasyevsky in Shuisky district.

"In a very short time, ESCO Lighting Technologies was able to install 600 modern CORVETTE LED lighting fixtures with a colour temperature of 4000K, the most comfortable for drivers, on the region's roads.

Thanks to modern technology, it is now possible to control the intensity of light depending on time of day, weather conditions and traffic congestion. Also well-functioning control helps to keep track of faulty equipment in a timely manner. In addition, an intelligent system has been developed with the installation, which allows to interconnect not only facilities that fall under the energy service contract modernization, but also newly commissioned facilities.

"The energy efficiency of LEDs and the ability to control the power of lighting will give good savings - it is projected to be about 70%. All equipment deliveries and works are performed at the expense of the contractor, with whom the customer pays later, based on the savings achieved. The term of the contract is six years. There is also a warranty for the equipment and lighting fixtures for the duration of the contract," Anikin added.
