A ₽600 million electronics plant opened in St. Petersburg

RusTelCom has put into operation a plant for the production of electronic modules in the Obukhovo industrial zone in St. Petersburg. This is reported on the website of the Industry Development Fund, which provided funding for the organization of the new production.

Overall investment in the plant construction exceeded 600 million rubles, of which 270 million rubles were provided by the Fund in the form of a soft loan.

The area of the plant is four thousand square meters. There are two modern high-speed surface mounting lines and two operating lines which moved from the neighboring building.

"Due to the new equipment, the total capacity has tripled. Annually the enterprise will produce up to 500 thousand computing modules, up to 5 million smart meter controllers or up to 10 million memory modules a year," the report said.

Today the share of imported electronic modules for radioelectronics in Russia exceeds 50%, the company said. They mostly come from China, Poland, the Czech Republic, Finland and Romania. The launch of the new plant is expected to reduce dependence on foreign-made electronics products.
