Angola has approved the use of the vaccine Sputnik Lite

The Angolan Ministry of Health has registered a Russian single-component vaccine Sputnik Lite against coronavirus infection, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said.

Earlier, Angola approved the use of a two-component vaccine Sputnik V.

The new drug is the first component of Sputnik V. Its efficacy is 79.4% four weeks after immunization.

The effectiveness was calculated based on the data of Russians who received only one shot as part of the vaccination and did not receive a second shot for any reason from December 5 of last year to April 15 of this year. It is noted that this effectiveness rate is higher than that of many other vaccines, which are administered in two stages.

To date, Sputnik V has been approved for use in 64 countries with a population of more than 3.2 billion people.
