Rimera, an oil engineering plant in Izhevsk, has released a new automatic drilling key with ARMATIC software control.

The equipment makes it possible to screw and uncouple drill and casing pipes with high accuracy in a short period of time. At the same time, the software control has the largest range of diameters of joints of screwed and uncoupled pipes (from 73 to 245 mm) compared to other domestic counterparts.

Included with the key is a device for measuring, recording and visualizing the screwing parameters. High-accuracy tightening allows increasing service life of the wrench and drilling tool. Thanks to the software, torque values are stored and transmitted via wired and wireless communication.

Such equipment can be installed on the normal seat of the drilling wrench type AKB without changing the construction of the drilling site. The key can be moved in a wide range by means of a retractable manipulator, and a portable control panel with a high-sensitivity touch screen allows the key to be operated with individual hand protection.

Key tests that took place at Kondinskoye oilfield in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District were successfully completed last month.
